News – Total Love Meldown with the Campbell Brothers!
March 5 at Hugh’s Room with the incredible Campbell Brothers et al was a wild, wonderful, Gospel explosion (see review). It is impossible to describe the experience using mere words. I’ve included a short excerpt from the show here. It’s worth putting up with my ecstatic warblings and sticking it out until Chuck Campbell’s steel solo, believe me…
[audio:http://davidwall.ca/mp3/Struggle.mp3]My big CD release party on Thursday, February 9 exceeded all my expectations. The room was packed full of enthused music lovers who seemed, amazingly, to be laughing at my jokes. The highlight of the evening for me was when Yoshi (my sweet first-born) spontaneously ran up on stage to take my picture, inspiring a palpable “Sound Of Music”-style sigh from the awestruck croud. A special thankyou to everyone at Hugh’s, to my band and, of course, to my fabulous special guests (Carlos Del Junco, Chris Miller and Micah Barnes). An overwhelming number of folks took pity on me and bought massive amounts of my new disc, “The Spell I Was Under”.
FYI, there are a few songs from the cd on this site, as well as on the Black Hen Music site (www.blackhenmusic.com). You should check out the Black Hen catalogue, by the way. Steve and Alice Dawson and everyone over there have absolutely exemplary taste!
And in other news…In the filmscore world, I am having an absolutely crazed year of work. I am continuing to develop my business/composing partnership with Daniel Greaves, ex-singer of The Watchmen and Doctor and all-around mensch. He and I are currently working on a plethora of projects, including two series for HG TV, a doc about Hebron and a doc for History US about India’s Mughal dynasty. The series Finding The Fallen is currently airing on the History channel in Canada and Discovery in Europe.
John Greyson and I are still threatening to create the cinematic feature version of our Fig Trees opera. Actually, due to funding etc. we have to get it done sometime soon, so who knows.
I am just starting to put together dates to support the release of my record. See sidebar for details.
More soon

re Campbell Bro. Show:
David Wall’s addition to the show was nothing short of transcendent. He is one of the most musically gifted singer I’ve heard in a long time.

I’ve been a huge Bourb fan all my life and it was great to hear Dave belting it out some gospel blues again with the Campbell Brothers. Chills down my spine. Keep it up!

Okay – so happy to see and hear about the music – also a huge fan from too far back to mention – and googling Mister Chris Miller, found you and had to comment. Would love a little more of this in Australia – welldone and hopefully you’ll be playing around the holidays when we get back to Toronto – I’d love to come support you.
